My Steampunk Belle costume. I’d like to add more steampunk to it aside from the goggles and the book, but the costume itself is complete.
This is from day 1 of SPWF. That’s my lovely fem Firefly crew. (I’m Wash and my mom is Jayne)

World’s Faire is in THREE DAYS and I still have to
- buy my dinosaurs
- buy a Hawaiian shirt
- make a skirt
- make a bustle to go over said skirt
- figure out how to make a gun holster for my mom
- figure out how to make a utility belt that will visibly carry books
Is slutty Wash an acceptable thing? I thought I’d have time to buy burnt orange leggings or make a jumpsuit to go under the Hawiian shirt, but lol finals, and now I’m kind of screwed. So Hawiian shirt, dinosaurs, shorts, and combat boots? Maybe?
Alright Steampunks of Tumblr, help me out
I’m hoping to have Steampunk Belle (blue dress) completed by Steampunk World’s Faire. I can handle making the dress (for the most part, I’m still not sure how I want to make a bustle that will come off and let it be Disney movie accurate) but I need some accessories.
What I thought would be good would be to make a funky case for my ereader and to find a way to holster it somehow.
Does anyone know any good tutorials for working with pleather or for making something like what I’m looking for? Or suggestions for things I could do?

I was less than impressed with TeslaCon.
Live firearms were allowed at the convention, with no requirements for peacebonding. They required that the guns not be loaded, but it really didn’t look like people were checking that much. There was a guy with a giant icepick on his back.

I feel like this is a pretty important post to reblog and something my followers should definitely read. Safety at cons should ALWAYS be #1. Especially a steampunk con because hello? weapons, rum, scantily clad women, and absinth.
And while I’m at it, I’ll add this is why I love Jeff Mach cons. When shit goes down, the security is there and issues are dealt with. Steampunk World’s Faire is run so efficiently. I’m sure there is crazy drama behind the scenes, but there are never issues with it for con-goers.
