World’s Faire is in THREE DAYS and I still have to
- buy my dinosaurs
- buy a Hawaiian shirt
- make a skirt
- make a bustle to go over said skirt
- figure out how to make a gun holster for my mom
- figure out how to make a utility belt that will visibly carry books
Is slutty Wash an acceptable thing? I thought I’d have time to buy burnt orange leggings or make a jumpsuit to go under the Hawiian shirt, but lol finals, and now I’m kind of screwed. So Hawiian shirt, dinosaurs, shorts, and combat boots? Maybe?
I finished my apron last night! It’s intended to be for an Alice in Wonderland steampunky costume, but I don’t have the dress or the bloomers completed yet, so I put it on with my corset, and still absolutely love it.
The fabric, if you can’t tell, is creme with white writing. The writing is all relevant to the Alice story, so I thought it would be perfect. My bloomers are blue with color illustrations from Lewis Carroll’s masterpiece.
It has working pockets. Pockets on a costume are good. :-D
I made this for my friend’s daughter for when we go to Watch City. My friend KC is modeling it for me. :-D Also, after I took this picture, I added glitter. Every little girl should have purple glittery gear covered scrabble barrette.
Alright Steampunks of Tumblr, help me out
I’m hoping to have Steampunk Belle (blue dress) completed by Steampunk World’s Faire. I can handle making the dress (for the most part, I’m still not sure how I want to make a bustle that will come off and let it be Disney movie accurate) but I need some accessories.
What I thought would be good would be to make a funky case for my ereader and to find a way to holster it somehow.
Does anyone know any good tutorials for working with pleather or for making something like what I’m looking for? Or suggestions for things I could do?
Soooooo I went to H&M and found this sweater for $7 and now I’m Amy from Dinosaurs on a Spaceship. I know it has buttons, but it’s 3/4 sleeves and just the right stripes, so for $7, I’m a ridiculously happy Kayla. :-D

I found the exact perfect shade of blue for Belle’s dress!!! I can’t wait to steampunk it up!!!!
Of course the downside of this is it’s too perfect to get away with wearing in Disney World and claiming I’m not trying to be Belle…
I’m reading Mrs. Warren’s Profession for a class, and she’s wearing one of these. It’s called a chatelaine. I’ve never heard of this before, but it’s fucking cool and I want one for my steampunk outfits.

Okay, now that all the major holidays are over, and life goes back to normal…
I GET TO START PREPARING FOR WICKED FAIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANYONE ELSE RIDICULOUSLY EXCITED???
It’s time to start fixing and improving costumes, trying to see if I can pull together something that fits “Revenge of the Renaissance,” figuring out if I can make something new, and listening to This Way To The Egress and Baroque and Hungry and Eli August and the Abandoned Buildings and Platform One to start preparing, except in the case of Eli, who usually just makes me feel melancholy (no offense).
But yeah, EXCITEMENT!!!!
