Excitement!
I found the exact perfect shade of blue for Belle’s dress!!! I can’t wait to steampunk it up!!!!
Of course the downside of this is it’s too perfect to get away with wearing in Disney World and claiming I’m not trying to be Belle…
EVERYTHING VICTORIA CLARK STANDS FOR IS WONDERFUL.
I saw Cinderella on Broadway last night. It was good. Not outstanding, but it was fun and obviously the music made everyone feel all warm and gushy inside. It’s R&H’s Cinderella. The new story could have been worse! It was a bit forced at some points, but I was honestly expecting worse.
All of the actors in the show are really good. I personally don’t love Laura Osnes, she hit really pitchy high notes when I saw her in South Pacific and Anything goes, and her voice has definitely improved since then, but she’s still just really breathy, and it bothers me. It’s bad technique. But she looked the part…
Victoria Clark was best. She was amazing and gorgeous and had so much fun with the role and got to fly and was adorable and I love her. She can do no wrong.
Random side note, in the second act, Cinderella (Laura Osnes has brown hair) wears a yellow-gold dress. And then brings a book to a banquet. I’m sorry, but Belle much? That’s all I kept thinking.
And speaking of costumes… THE COSTUMES FOR THIS SHOW WERE WONDERFUL!
The lighting could have been a bit better, but that’s because I’m a lighting snob and notice more about lighting than most people.
All in all, it was a really magical evening, and I’ll probably see the show again. I kind of want to force every child I know to go see it too. They’d all like it. AND there are no children IN the show, so no pitchy awful voice changing little ear shatterers!
Anyone else notice she’s got Belle hair?
I THINK I FINALLY HAVE MY DAD CONVINCED TO BE STEAMPUNK MAURICE TO MY STEAMPUNK BELLE!!!!!
I’ve been trying to get him to come to a convention with me and my mother for over a year now, and he won’t come with us!!! But I took him to a multiverse in August, and he realized that everyone is just as geeky as he is, and he doesn’t have to love the steampunk aesthetic to get along with everyone. And then I asked if he’d be Maurice because I have a Belle costume and he said maybe, but now I really think he’s leaning toward doing it!!!!
I know I’m a grown up and stuff, but I have always been Belle, so it’d be really exciting for me to have a grown up father/daughter cosplay with him. :-D
Some beautiful mosaics that the Disney Parks Blog showed us! These will be featured in The Beauty and the Beast Realm of the expansion!!!!
AMAZING. I CAN’T EVEN HANDLE THIS.
Because what else would Belle do at a convention?
This is my steampunk Belle costume, and I am ridiculously proud of it.
I made the skirt, the wrist cuffs, and the goggles, and modeled my hair after Belle in the movie, but with little flower hair clips with gears in the middle.
I think it works because it’s not blatantly a character costume, but if someone asks me why I have a book (Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in this case) I can tell them who I am.
The only change I would make is that I wish I had a pair of better shoes, and I’m currently working on making the skirt go poof.
<3 This is an awesome mash up of the Broadway show and the movie. I always forget that this song, To Be Human Again, Home, and If I Can’t Love Her are only in the musical and get disappointed when they don’t sing them in the movie.
